9 Reasons Why You Need Business Branding Photography

September 23, 2022

When it comes to your business and your brand, you think about everything. What your logo and colors look like, how you come across in your copy, what your website looks like, but what about your photos? Is business branding photography really worth it? Does it make a difference?

Some people may have different opinions but to me, business branding photography is so important for your brand. Branding photography is something so simple, yet very powerful.

Here are some of my top reasons why you absolutely need business branding photography!

Creates a great first impression

Whether it is on social media, in person, or on your website, first impressions are super important. So why would you want a potential client’s first impression of you to be based on stock photos or blurry out-of-date pictures?

Having branding photography that you can showcase you and your business with creates the perfect first impression for everyone. They get a chance to see who you and your business are in a real and authentic way.

This is something that is very simple but will make a huge difference when it comes to how potential clients see your business.

Makes you and your brand feel more human

Today, most people rely heavily on visual content to decide whether or not they like something or connect with it. This is why platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are so popular.

People want to know who they are getting information, services, whatever it might be from. This means the more you show your face and who you are, the more likely people are to connect with you and feel like they know you and your business.

This is one of the most important reasons why you need business branding photography. Branding photography puts a human face to your business and helps people connect and relate to you and your business better.

Creates consistency throughout your brand

Consistency, consistency, consistency. You have probably put a lot of time and effort into creating a consistent experience for your clients. Whether that’s clear timelines, constant communication, or anything in between, they always know what to expect.

That same amount of thought should absolutely go into your branding. Branding photography helps ensure that people can pick out you and your brand regardless of what they are looking at.

Brand recognition is huge and can make a really big difference when it comes to who people decide to work with, buy from, and more. Think about it, there are probably dozens of different service providers or businesses that someone can choose between.

If you can create brand recognition with your business, people may be more likely to book your services or buy your products when they are ready because they feel like they know you.

Showcases what you and your business actually do

Another super important reason why you need business branding photography is to showcase what you and your business actually do. This doesn’t need to just be pictures of you typing on your computer or writing in your calendar either.

For example, if you’re an art therapist, you can have branding photography featuring art materials or pieces of art themselves. If you’re a designer, you can show off some of your creative processes.

Branding photography allows you to tell everyone what your business is about without actually saying anything at all!

Helps you stand out from the crowd

The last thing any business owner wants to do is blend in with everyone around them. Especially as more and more people start their own businesses, it can be super hard to find ways to stand out from the crowd.

A perfect way to do this is branding photography. How many times have you gone to a coffee shop and seen the same exact pictures of beans or white coffee mugs? Or how many copywriters have the same picture of a notebook with a pen on top of it?

Having the same images as everyone else in your industry makes it super hard for you to stand out regardless of how amazing your products or services are. This is why business branding photography is so important.

Great, branded photos will help you stand out from everyone else and ensure that when people see you and your brand, they remember you.

Gives you the opportunity to show off your amazing personality

Let’s face it. You’re pretty awesome and you should be able to show your amazing personality Yes, you can show some of your personality through your copy on your website or your social media, but a picture really is worth a thousand words.

Having business branding photography allows you to step in front of the lens and show people who you really are and what you stand for. You can show off a more fun loving or laid back side to yourself that you may not be able to express with just words alone.

You can also incorporate some of your favorite props to add even more personality to your branding.

Creates the “full package” to show that you are a legit business

A lot goes into your business and your branding. From your branding itself to your website to how you show up on social media, you want to make sure that everywhere you are represented, you are seen as a legitimate business and one that can be trusted.

Creating the “full package” is super important and business branding photography can really bring everything together. The last thing you want to do is spend a lot of time curating the perfect brand, writing spot on copy, creating a beautiful website, and then all have it fall apart with subpar photos.

Getting branding photography can help make your business look more professional, established, and one that people are confident in.

Lets you ditch the stock photos

We are all used to seeing stock photos everywhere and sure sometimes they can be good, but at the end of the day, you are always going to be able to spot stock photos from real photos.

Now I’m not saying you can’t use any stock photos for your business or website, however, you shouldn’t have to rely on them for everything. Stock photos work great for things like backgrounds where they’re not the main focus point, but when it comes to photos that draw your attention, they just don’t cut it.

Think about it, when you are looking at someone’s about page on their website, do you want to see a stock photo of some random person or object, or a picture of the person that actually runs the business?

You can also work to create “stock” like photos with your photographer so you know that every picture you use will be cohesive. This can be things like objects you use in your work every day or props that match the vibe of your business. These can even be on colored backgrounds that match your brand colors!

Nothing beats professional photos

As much as we may try, nothing beats professional photos. You may think that your iPhone or the camera you have at your house is good enough and you can have your friend or your partner snap some photos of you to use.

However, there is so much more that goes into business branding photography and just taking photos in general. Just like a cupcake from a bakery is never the same as a homemade one, taking your own photos just isn’t the same as getting them done professionally.

Getting your photos taken professionally will ensure that the lighting is perfect, your photos are edited in a way that matches the rest of your branding, and the overall vibe you are going for is captured in your photos. Plus, the photos you get will be super high quality and are sure to look perfect wherever you use them.

So, is it worth it to get business branding photography? Absolutely!
