December 22, 2021

I’ve traveled all over Virginia photographing weddings. I’ve narrowed down 12 of my absolute favorite Virginia wedding venues! They range from classic and elegant to industrial and modern – there are all types of wedding venues in Virginia and certainly one for everyone’s taste.

So, let’s go on a journey of some of my favorite Virginia wedding venues that are unique and perfect for the modern couple!

1. The Georges Inn – Lexington, VA

For anyone that loves the historic feeling Virginia has to offer, mixed with an urban twist… Look no further than the Patton Room at the Georges Inn in Lexington! It’s the perfect place for an intimate ceremony and reception all in one modern space.

2. Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens – Richmond, VA

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, VA is perfect for the nature lovers that are wanting a lowkey wedding. In the middle of the hustle and bustle of Richmond the botanical gardens feel completely isolated. With incredible blooms surrounding you, a rose garden of your dreams, and an incredible greenhouse you can’t go wrong here. Plus, if you book your wedding with them you are given an hour time slot for engagement photos in the garden!!

3. The Wool Factory – Charlottesville, VA

The Wool Factory in Charlottesville, VA is an industrial dream unlike anything else you’ll find in this city! With preserved historic architecture, incredible cuisine and beer, and enough space for over 200 of your closest family and friends this is an absolute treasure of modern luxury. For folks that aren’t wanting as intimate of a day (or maybe you just want an intimate day with incredible levels of class) this is THE place for you!

4. Virginia Museum of Fine Art – Richmond, VA

The VMFA, located in Richmond, VA is a no-brainer for this list. Celebrating your love in an intimate setting surrounded by art is absolutely unique and is a sure fire way to create stunning portraits on your wedding day. There are multiple different spaces available for use, that will allow this to be a wonderful venue for a wide range of budgets.

5. The Local – Charlottesville, VA

The Local is an incredible restaurant and catering company in Charlottesville Virginia! What you might not know, is that you can use their space in downtown Belmont as a reception venue for your wedding day or rehearsal dinner. The space is cozy and intimate, overlooks the gorgeous streets of Cville, and you already know that you will wow all of your guests with the incredible food!

6. Pippin Hill – Charlottesville, VA

Pippin Hill is a true destination wedding location. It boasts views you won’t find anywhere else in the world, incredible wine, artisanal catering, and a luxurious experience from start to finish. This is a one of a kind venue that you and your guests will never forget, making this one of my favorite Virginia wedding venues.

7. The Market at Grelen – Charlottesville, VA

The Market at Grelen in Charlottesville is a great venue for the modern architecture lovers thanks to it’s clear top tent! Overlooking acres of trees and blooms you get the feel of being in the mountains, but with the comfort of being right outside of town!

8. Potter’s Craft Cide – Charlottesville, VA

Calling all hard cider lovers! Potter’s Craft Cider is a favorite unique venue of mine. It’s conveniently located right down the highway from Charlottesville Virginia, and their tasting room transforms into the most beautiful ceremony and reception space- complete with an old church bell you get to ring to seal the deal!

9. Common House – Charlottesville & Richmond, VA

Common House is full of great food, tasty drinks, beautiful art, and overall good vibes. So, for couples wanting something sleek, modern, and downright cool… this is the spot!

10. Wintergreen Resort – Charlottesville, VA

Located about 40 minutes outside of Charlottesville, Wintergreen Resort has become one of my favorite places to photograph! The views from their various overlooks are breathtaking year round, and you get to party the night way overlooking the ski slopes completely surrounded by mountains.

11. Dover Hall – Richmond, VA

Dover Hall is straight out of a dream. This magical venue is located right outside of Richmond, VA and is inspired by English-tudors. Whether it’s their luxurious getting ready suites, magnificent ballrooms, or ethereal gardens- there is something for everyone at this location.

12. Camp Holiday Trails – Charlottesville, VA

A place near and dear to my heart. I was able to work at Camp Holiday Trails for 5 years (!!) as a counselor, leadership member, and as the Assistant Program Director before I started full time photography. Not only do they have an incredible mission, the property is absolutely breathtaking year-round! For those couples that are outdoors-y and would love to get married in front of the water and dance the night away under the stars, this is an incredible venue with the proceeds going towards an even better cause!
