Oh boy, I can’t tell you how excited I have been for this blog. From the moment Monica reached out to me I knew that this session was going to be one that was special to me. She reached out about 2 months prior talking about how she and Rick were coming up on their 10 (TEN!!) year anniversary (keep that in mind when looking at these photos and how flawless they look) and wanted to get some photos to commemorate that. They were going to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city they live in and were going to spend the holidays in a tiny home in the middle of nowhere. When the day of our shoot arrived I was over the moon excited to finally meet these two. I felt like I had already known so much about them and known them for years. This was all a big surprise for Rick in the months leading up, but thankfully Monica did warn him before I arrived that this is how they would be spending the evening! I walked into a PERFECTLY decorated tiny home and they were in the cutest matching PJ’s. We got some of their favorite tunes going and I loved hearing them recount some of their favorite memories over the last 10 years. Once we felt confident that the sun was in the right spot and we had gotten all the pictures we needed inside we headed out to get some photos in nature to highlight their love of hiking and the outdoors together. We got some really great photos of these two and ended our session with a cozy fire and some s’mores!
Monica + Rick,
Every time I look back on your photos I am speechless all over again. The love you two share after 10 years is something that most people can only dream of. Getting to watch you in your natural habitat and learn all of your beautiful stories really reminds me why I love what I do. The way you two talk about each other is full of so much respect, admiration, and true love. I completely understand why your friends and family refer to you all as “Velcro”, but in the absolute best way possible. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to get to know you all so intimately, take these photos for such an awesome anniversary, and being so open and unapologetically yourselves.
All the love,
